DESCRIPTION:Cambusbarron Gala Day 2023 is gearing up to be another fantastic day full of FUN and exciting opportunities and entertainment. \n\n\n\nOur Royal Party for 2023 has been chosen. It shall\, as always\, be led by The Balaklava Pipe Band with the Royal Procession of Queen Scarlett Rose McGowan\, her Princesses\, Knights\, Dragon\, Fairies\, Pixies and Cute Bugs leaving from The Community Centre at 11:45am heading along the streets of Cambusbarron and it will be spectacular! \n\n\n\nKeeping you informed of all that happens on Gala Day we have our DJ/MC\, Lola from ‘Bairnz Kids Discos’. In between our entertainment they will provide music and games to ensure everyone has fun.There will never be anyone saying “I’m Bored!” \n\n\n\nUSB Events bring us the inflatables; the Helter Skelter\, Bouncy Slide and seeing the return of their 60ft Bouncy Assault Course with a new Fun Activity Centre\, there will be something for everyone. And these will all be accessed via our Unlimited Wristbands. \n\n\n\nOnce Queen Scarlett Rose officially opens the festivities of Gala Day the entertainment will begin with The Cluaran Highland Dance School of Stirling. Following them we also have Blues Dance Academy with our littlest stars of Cambusbarron then New Heights Dance and the Adult Tap Dancers. \n\n\n\nLeigh Milne joins us this year with a fantastic Magic Show and later they will cruise the crowds with Balloon Modelling. \n\n\n\nBack by popular demand we will see Owl Magic who will bring some amazing owls and give you the opportunity to hold them too. \n\n\n\nFor the first time ever\, and much to the excitement of our Committee\, we have Pony Rides!! Brought to us by Janice Walker Riding School. You will have the chance to ride on the adorable ponies and take home a memory that will last. \n\n\n\nAnd it doesn’t stop there. We have many other forms of entertainment from demonstrations by ‘Bounce Fitness’\, to ‘Rugby Tots’. Plus of course\, over 25 Stalls on ‘Market Street’ including ‘Sonsie Facepainting’ who returns to provide some glitter and glam; ‘Ring-a-Bell’\, an all time classic and many others from wax melts to handmade crafts & gifts. We also have ‘Megs Cakes’ and the ‘Sweet Cart’ for those sweet tooths to enjoy.  \n\n\n\nWe haven’t forgotten the foodie vendors. Of course we have local Michael More Butchers providing the best Barbecue for miles; Fried Guys return with their famous mouth watering fries and of course a favourite of ours ‘Mr Whippy’ Ice cream van too and as we have put in an order for sunshine we’ll be needing a cool yummy ’99 cone. \n\n\n\nThe Co-op Store\, Cambusbarron are Sponsoring ‘Gala Day Treat Bags’ for the children of Cambusbarron.  \n\n\n\nOrganised by Cambusbarron Community Events Group\, all info and updates can be found on their Facebook page. \n\n\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/CambusbarronGala \n\n\n\nPlease get in touch by emailing cambusbarronevents@gmail.com for any questions about gala day. SUMMARY:Log Processing Day 4/3/23
DESCRIPTION:The Development Trust\, following our successful log processing day last year would like to have another day on 4th March producing firewood logs for sale to raise funds to support the development of the woodland. \n\n\n\nIf you would be interested in helping on the day\, please contact logs@ccdt.org.uk. We need 6 volunteers to run the day \n\n\n\nLog Processing\n\n\n\nThe work to split logs can be quite physical and each individual needs to take great care of their own and other health and safety as we are working with powerful pieces of machinery which have the potential to cause serious injury.  Having said that the equipment is well maintained and suitably guarded so as long as users follow instructions there will be no problems.  It is important to wear the correct clothing.  Strong boots or wellingtons are needed\, preferably with steel tow caps if possible.  A good pair of gloves is essential\, we have some gloves but if you have a good fitting pair then this might be best.  We will supply a forestry helmet with visor and ear defenders\, also safety glasses are available if required.  Long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt will also be preferable and a light waterproof in case of inclement weather.  Refreshments and lunch will be supplied and although the work is outdoors\, there is shelter available if required. \n\n\n\nLogs will be transported to the splitter by tractor and may be pre-split or cut if too thick or long to lift.  These smaller logs need to be lifted onto the saw bench and cut to length with a large circular saw.  The short lengths are then split with a hydraulic log splitter and fed onto a conveyor belt to be delivered into storage bags (either large or small).  Some help may be required to load logs into people’s cars if required. Hopefully we will be able to rotate people so that you do not spend too long without a break and if we get the right number of volunteers this will help. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur logs have been seasoning over last summer. Large bags as below will be £70.00 per bag smaller quantities will also be available at £10.00 per bag.
