Fun family learning in Gillies Hill community woodland
Welcome to the Gillies Hill Community Woodland Education section. We want everyone in the community to access the wonderful learning opportunities in the woods. In this section you’ll find resources and information about different ways to engage with the woods. Our family events and workshops are facilitated by our CCDT outdoor learning experts.
We have developed bespoke learning resources which you can print or download to your phone or tablet before going into the woods. The resources have been designed by local educators and are centred around the natural and historical features you’ll find in Gillies Hill Community Woodland.

John Muir Awards
Cambusbarron Community Development Trust offers young people and families the chance to deepen their connection with nature and explore their local environment by taking part in an individual or family ‘John Muir Award’ programme. Participants will Discover, Explore, Conserve and Share their experience within Gillies Hill Community Woodland. Joining the programme is completely free and all the activities can be done for free. At the end of the programme, all participants who gain the award will receive an official certificate of their achievement from the John Muir Trust.
