The Dark Wids remain CLOSED to the public for safety reasons.
CCDT took the decision to close the Dark Wids several weeks ago because they present a significant risk to the public.
There are complex safety hazards throughout the Dark Wids area including unstable and hanging trees, above and beside the paths in a number of locations. As a result, there is a risk of further falling trees and branches at any time, particularly during or as a result of windy weather conditions such as those predicted during Storm Kathleen.
The CCDT board is keeping the closure of the Dark Wids under regular review and will share updates when we can.
No decisions have been made on the long term future of the Dark Wids. We will of course keep the community informed and involved as progress is made.
