Cambusbarron Village Nursery Update

Cambusbarron Village Nursery was delighted to receive planning consent for our woodland shelter in mid-September. However, it transpired that the approval was for an “emergency” shelter, which did not fully align with our intended more regular use. In order to amend the wording we discovered that we required to submit a new planning application. We are now awaiting the outcome of that which we hope will come through in the very near future.

Once planning is in place, we will move forward with the building warrant process and then move to the construction phase. Our planned shelter beside the Walled Garden will provide a dry, sheltered space for storing belongings and will offer occasional respite for children from Scotland’s more extreme weather conditions.

In the meantime, despite the cold, wet, and darker winter months, we continue to make the journey from the Community Centre to make full use of the woodland and the most of the amazing learning opportunities nature provides. Our visits to the woods offer rich, hands-on experiences that not only allow children to form lasting connections with nature but also support their physical and mental wellbeing as well as developing confidence, creativity and resilience.

The children have witness the firsthand the impact of Storm Eowyn and the incredible efforts of our dedicated woodland volunteers working to restore accessibility to the woods.

As the seasons begin to shift, we are noticing the last traces of winter alongside the first signs of spring, giving our children’s a real sense of seasonal change and the natural world.

We remain fully committed to developing our outdoor nursery provision for the benefit of our children and are grateful to CCDT for their continued support in making this project a reality.
