Community Woodland Larch Removal News

SPHN – Larch Removal, update Sunday 15th May 2022

Another major milestone in this SPHN operation is that the forwarder is now offsite. Aside from where timber is stacked there are now no access restrictions within the community woodland. Brash clearance and reinstating the path network is our next challenge. Many thanks to the volunteers who joined us at the end of April and others in their own time who have been assisting in path and trail clearance. Thank you to those who have taken the time to do this for the benefit of all users of the woodland.

The only restricted area is within our stacking area, as there will still be haulage lorries over the coming few weeks – please do follow safety signs. Do not climb on the timber stacks as this could be dangerous.

Please do be aware while walking in the woodland that brash can be a trip hazard and that there is a risk of windblown trees. Weaker trees which are now more exposed and less protected by older, stronger, more established trees are now more vulnerable if there are gusts of wind. As always please be aware of your surroundings and take care whilst walking in the woodland in all weather conditions.

Next woodland volunteer day Sunday 29th May

Volunteer Day – usually is the last Saturday of the month but for May we’re moving it to Sunday 29th May due to other events in our local community which we hope you can support.  It has been great to welcome regular volunteers as well as those volunteering with us for the first time at our recent sessions.

Community Events

Could you support our Cambusbarron community with even an hour of your time at these two big events below?

It’s great to see these gatherings in the calendar again and let the community come together.  A lot of work goes in to organising these events and additional pairs of hands are needed to help run successfully on the day.  Could you help?
