Felling in Woods Starts Today (18 Aug 2022 )

The remaining 49 trees marked ‘drey’ as part of the SPHN were due to felled by 31st August.  Our contractors RTS has previously estimated it would be w/c 22nd August for this to be carried out, however due to machinery issues on another site they are now able to start working today (Thursday 18th August). They will be onsite Thursday 18th, Friday 19th and then will confirm which dates the following week.

There will be no heavy machinery, felling will be done by two foresters with chainsaws.  Please be mindful of anyone working in high-viz if walking in the woods and follow safety instructions given.  There is no access restrictions except for the immediate area where they are felling which will be signposted and a banksman on lookout for anybody in the area.  These trees will be left where they are felled for now.

You will notice that some trees will be felled with a high stump as at a later date we would be keen to see some chainsaw carved sculptures created.  If anyone has any ideas for designs we’d love to hear from you!  Email to woodland@ccdt.org.uk
